Cardiorespiratory Response Model for Pain and Stress Detection during Endoscopic Sinus Surgery under Local Anesthesia
نویسنده
چکیده
The effect of surgical procedure on breathing movement and the effect of characteristics of breathing movement on changes in heart rate and blood pressure during actual endoscopic nasal surgery were analyzed using analysis of variance and Bayesian network modeling. As the result, the probabilistic causal relationship between respiratory irregularities, increasing blood pressure and patients’ complaint of pain was found. This result is expected to use as patient pain and stress detection method without discomfort during actual surgery under local anesthesia.

The Effect of Local Injection of Epinephrine and Bupivacaine on Post-Tonsillectomy Pain and Bleeding
Introduction: Tonsillectomy is one of the most common surgeries in the world and the most common problem is post-tonsillectomy pain and bleeding. The relief of postoperative pain helps increase early food intake and prevent secondary dehydration. One method for relieving pain is peritonsillar injection of epinephrine along with an anesthetic, which has been shown to produce variable results in ...
متن کاملIntranasal Dexmedetomidine on Stress Hormones, Inflammatory Markers, and Postoperative Analgesia after Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery
BACKGROUND A strong ongoing intraoperative stress response can cause serious adverse reactions and affect the postoperative outcome. This study evaluated the effect of intranasally administered dexmedetomidine (DEX) in combination with local anesthesia (LA) on the relief of stress and the inflammatory response during functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). METHODS Sixty patients undergoin...
متن کاملImpact of Intravenous Tranexamic Acid on Hemorrhage During Endoscopic Sinus Surgery
Introduction: Endoscopic sinus surgery is a common procedure performed by otolaryngologists. This study evaluated the efficacy of intravenous (IV) tranexamic acid (TA) on hemorrhage in patients undergoing elective endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS). Materials and Methods: The present study was performed in 170 patients scheduled for ESS surgery under general anesthesia in order to examine the ef...
متن کاملEvaluation of Topical Tranexamic Acid on Intraoperative Bleeding in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery
Tranexamic acid (TA) is an antifibrinolytic agent which reduces bleeding following certain surgical procedures. The present study was performed on 56 patients, scheduled for elective endoscopic sinus surgery under general anesthesia, to examine the effects of topical TA on providing a bloodless surgical field and evaluate the bleeding volume. The study comprised 26 patients who received topical...
متن کاملComparison of Clonidine and Midazolam Premedication Before Endoscopic Sinus Surgery: Results of Clinical Trial
OBJECTIVES Premedication with clonidine has been found to reduce the bleeding during endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS), therefore lowering the risk of surgical complications. Premedication is an essential part of pre-surgical care and can potentially affect magnitude of systemic stress response to a surgical procedure. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of premedication with clonidi...
